Rochester’s own symphony and chorale was founded in 1919. Our earliest ensemble — the Lawler-Dodge Orchestra — was a group of volunteers motivated by their passion to play, driven by Daisy Plummer and directed by Harold Cooke. Appearing in the former Chateau Theater pit, they provided background music for silent movies.
