KARMA RAPTENLING MONASTERY 1730 AD (South Sikkim) : Karma Raptenling monastery is the 1st Kagyud Monastery built in the honour of the 12th Karmapa Changchub Dorjee by the 4th Chogyal Gyurmed Namgyal in 1730 AD at Ra-long(Ra-meaning Goat and Long/Lang-meaning Upright), “Upright Goat”,an auspicious sign as suggested to the Chogyal by H.H the 12th Karmapa at an overlook in the southern part of Sikkim.
