A lithophane is a three dimensional carving that when lit from behind, produces an image - completely different from two dimensional engravings that are flat. With the lamps,when the ambient light is extinguished and the lithophane is back-lit, a beautiful, three-dimensional picture appears in incredible depth and detail.
