He became 63. But never bothered to get any diplomas. Any membership in some artists’ union. Something, no matter how insignificant, to legitimize him as an artist before the world. But in no way did he feel the burden of anonymity or the need for praise. That playfulness had not left him. And with its help he succeeded in sculpting happiness, loneliness, sadness, love, doubt, time, youth, old age. And now, towards autumn, he finishes the “Gates”.
