Thang-Ta martial art is a traditional art of Manipur. This is the only Indian martial art. Thang ta was interdicted in Jammu and Kashmir in 1997, in the name of Jammu and Kashmir thang ta association. Jammu and Kashmir thang-ta was recognised by Jammu and Kashmir state sports council.
