The Cooperative was set up in May 12, 2014 with compliance with the Cooperative Societies Act Cap 490. The motivation to set it up was the change in the Sacco Act which provided that Saccos should move away from non-core activities such as purchase and sale of land, real estate etc. to Savings and Investments activities.
