The Obayda family originated from Mosul, Iraq, and can be traced back to the 19th Century. They moved down to Baghdad and Basra to start various businesses activities. Like many Iraqi business families, due to the pressures and restrictions of various revolutions, they spread outside Iraq in search of a more business friendly environment.
