Hugo is a city in the southeastern part of the U.S. state of Oklahoma, 9 miles (14 km) from the Texas border. It was founded in 1901 and named for the French novelist, Victor Hugo. Hugo is the county seat for Choctaw County, and had a population of 5,310 at of 2010 Census. The city serves as winter quarters for some circus performers. It is adjacent to the oldest school west of the Mississippi: Goodland Academy, begun in 1848. Visit site »
