The Wealden Buildings Study Group studies vernacular architecture: buildings of indigenous local design and materials, built by local people. We work primarily in the Weald in Sussex and parts of Kent, Surrey and Hampshire. We study medieval and later buildings, mostly oak timber-framed (half-timbered). WBSG members include archaeologists, historians, architects, surveyors and geographers. Householders who allow a study visit receive a confidential, free report.
