We are tacitly accepting human overpopulation and the resulting environmental destruction, species extinction, and animal (farming, laboratory) torture for the benefit of the human (anthropocentric) experience. All environmental and animal research, conservation, debates, discussions and actions are meaningless unless overpopulation is clearly identified as the core issue. A more appropriate sense of urgency must be established, and creative ways to cull the human herd must be instituted.
