Elbow Reef Lighthouse
The iconic Grand Ol’ Lady of Hope Town, the Elbow Reef Lighthouse, is desperately in need of some serious face lifting. This 89 foot tall, candy-striped lighthouse tower was built in 1864 of imported red brick by the Imperial Lighthouse Service of London. The quarry, adjacent to the tower, provided building blocks for the keeper’s dwellings and other buildings of the lightstation.
