Occupy the Media was created in 2011 by progressive activists from Toronto, Canada. It's purpose is to report on important political, economic and social issues from a social democratic point of view. Occupy the Media considers the mainstream, corporate press to be interested solely in the pursuit of profit, and therefore focuses on sensationalistic stories that do nothing to further the goals of democracy, social justice and equality.
