I was diagnosed with manic depressive disorder in 1982. It is a terrible disorder with the potential to take complete control of one's life. For years it controlled me. Over the years I learned to manage the disorder. I have not had an episode since 1997. I believe that anybody inflicted with manic depressive disorder can improve their life by learning to manage their bipolar disorder as it is now known as.
